Stanley No. 79 Rebate Plane

The Stanley No 79 side rebate plane is a versatile, highly precise joinery tool engineered for fine-tuning the side walls of dados, grooves, rebates, and tongue-and-groove joints.

Featuring two opposing skewed cutters, an adjustable fence and a removable depth stop, the No. 79 excels at refining joinery so parts fit perfectly - especially when the groove is just slightly too tight.

The No. 79 was widely used by cabinetmakers, and woodworkers generally who required a dedicated plane for trimming the vertical walls of joinery.

This example is in good+ to fine condition, with 99
% of its nickel finish intact. It also has its original box and the rust prevention insert paper which carries the Stanley slogan - ‘The Best Tools You Can Lay Hands On’. When this was made 60-70 years ago in Sheffield, they had a case. This is not only an extremely precise and useful tool, but one that’s highly collectible.
