Active adapters are equipped with extra DP++ certified conversion chip to enforce the conversion with enough power even if the source is a middle device not the direct source (PC/Laptop).
If your source is not active DP++ that means it's a passive DP. More explanation, it is not equipped with extra chip to enforce the conversion with enough power. 🛑 IMPORTANT NOTES
1. This is NOT Bi-directional. The DisplayPort (DP) must be connected to display/video card source devices (PC, Laptop, etc.) while the HDMI port must be connected to the screen/monitor/projector.
2. Supports HDCP, but does not support HDR, because DP only adds HDR function in version 1.4.
3. Using extension cords, HDMI splitter or adapters for video transfer, may cause the cable to not reach up to 4K@60Hz, unless you are pretty confident that these intermediate devices support 4K@60Hz signal transmission or higher.
