The "Meta" Improvement
The inclusion of Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT) is the defining upgrade over the older, non-Meta R5. MAT acts as an acoustic black hole. It absorbs 99% of unwanted sound radiation from the rear of the tweeter. Reviewers note that this yields a highly detailed, clean soundstage and significantly reduces mid-to-high frequency distortion. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Tonality and Dispersion
According to objective measurements from Erin's Audio Corner, the R5 Meta delivers a highly neutral and smooth in-room frequency response. [1]
Treble: It features a slightly rolled-off, smooth high-end. This prevents the speaker from sounding overly bright or fatiguing.
Mid-range: It carries a very mild, laid-back recession in the mid-range. This gives it a slightly relaxed, warm character.
Soundstage: Because of the coaxial Uni-Q design, the horizontal and vertical dispersion patterns are excellent. The sweet spot is incredibly wide. The speaker maintains its tonal balance even if your ears are not perfectly level with the tweeter.

Amplifier Requirements: 15 - 200 Watts. [1]
Key Features & Technology
Uni-Q Driver Array: Implements a 12th-generation 5-inch midrange and 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter configuration. This acts as a single point source to broaden the listening "sweet spot". [
Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT): A maze-like structure built behind the tweeter. It absorbs 99% of rear sound distortion to deliver exceptionally clean high frequencies.
Hybrid Aluminum Bass Drivers: Uses dual 5.25-inch woofers. They offer rigid, pistonic movement for tight and controlled low-end frequencies.
Cabinet Construction: Features sophisticated internal bracing and constrained layer damping. This engineering minimizes panel resonances that color the sound.
Sound Profile
Neutral & Natural: Tuning is highly linear. It reproduces recordings accurately without artificially boosting specific frequencies.
Excellent Dispersion: Constant vertical and horizontal directivity ensures a cohesive three-dimensional soundstage. Timbre remains consistent even if you are sitting off-axis.
Tailored Highs: On-axis treble tapers slightly downward to ensure that room reflections do not cause listening fatigue or unwanted brightness.
Extended Bass Shelf: Low frequencies gently roll off starting ar

Ideal Room Placement & Integration
The slim profile makes the R5 Meta highly adaptable for smaller to medium-sized living spaces. Because of its specialized port tuning, it sounds best when placed between 2 to 3 feet away from a rear wall. While it provides excellent mid-bass punch, adding a dedicated subwoofer is highly recommended to fill out the lowest octaves (sub-30 Hz) for deep movie tracks or heavy electronic music. [1, 2]
52 Hz. This prevents muddy, boomy bass when speakers are positioned near walls.
