Pioneer SX-1010 – Exceptional Fully Restored Example – €2,200

For sale is my Pioneer SX-1010, one of Pioneer's legendary flagship receivers from the golden age of Japanese hi-fi.

This is an exceptional example, both cosmetically and technically, and is absolutely not your typical untouched 50-year-old receiver being sold as "working."

It has undergone a very substantial restoration, including:

- Custom replacement power-supply board, designed specifically for the SX-1010 by experienced AudioKarma engineers
- The original Pioneer power-supply board is also included
- New protection relay
- New filter capacitors
- All electrolytic capacitors replaced
- Nearly all transistors replaced
- Thoroughly serviced and tested

The restoration has transformed this into a superb-performing SX-1010 while retaining the character and originality that makes these receivers so desirable.

And visually, it is an absolute stunner.

The SX-1010 was Pioneer's flagship receiver of its era and is a serious piece of engineering: huge power supply, substantial output stage, beautifully illuminated tuning dial, large analogue meters and the iconic silver-face Pioneer styling.

It sounds every bit as impressive as it looks — powerful, effortless, dynamic and extremely capable of driving serious speakers.

Original German provenance

A particularly nice addition is the original German sales receipt, which will be supplied with the receiver.

The original Pioneer power-supply board will also be supplied, so the buyer gets both the upgraded replacement and the original board.

One minor issue

For complete transparency, the -20 dB indicator light remains illuminated. This appears to be an issue with the indicator/LED circuit and does not affect the audio performance or normal operation of the receiver.

I'm only selling because I'm changing direction with my system. If I wasn't doing that, I'd be keeping it.

This is a rare opportunity to buy an SX-1010 that has already had the expensive and extensive restoration work carried out, rather than buying an untouched example and wondering what is going to fail next.
