Thorens TD160 Super Turntable, Time Capsule Mint Condition, Serviced, Ultra Rare Original Box and Packaging

An absolute ‘time capsule’ example of the legendary Thorens TD160 Super turntable. I’d really love to keep this as it’s so very special and unique, but I’ve recently acquired a high-end Nottingham Analogue deck that needs funding, so it’s with a heavy heart that it's up for sale.

Condition & Provenance
• Time Capsule Condition: Both the plinth, top plate, and dustcover are in pristine, mint condition with little to no signs of wear. Clean as a whistle and meticulously cared for.
• Ultra-Rare Original Packaging: Features the complete, original Thorens box — complete with the original factory model sticker and two vintage postage stickers intact. Includes the original top and bottom custom-moulded foam supports, the cardboard sub-platter protector, and even the original lid wrapping, transport bolts labels and belt label. You will struggle to find another example with this level of original factory provenance.
• Recently Serviced & Actively Used: Professionally serviced, tuned, and tested just before Christmas (spring suspension checked and calibrated, bearing oiled, and fitted with a high-quality Thakker drive belt). It has been used regularly since and functions flawlessly — dead silent, steady speed, and exceptional acoustic performance.

Versatility & Armboard Compatibility
Because this is the desirable Super variant, it is designed from the factory to accept a wide variety of 9-inch tonearms. Blank armboards or pre-cut boards are widely available online (eBay, Sound-Spares, etc.) for very modest money (typically €20–€40), making it incredibly easy to mount your choice of arm:
• SME (3009 Series II / Series III / 309 / IV / V) — SME armboard available with sale if needed
• Rega (RB220, RB330, RB300, RB250, etc.)
• Jelco / Linn / Grace / Mayware and other popular 9" patterns

Bulletproof Shipping & Packaging Peace of Mind
Given the rarity and condition of this turntable, it will be packed with extreme care if posting is required:
1. Transport Lock Engagement: Both original internal Thorens transit screws/bolts will be fully engaged prior to packing to secure the sub-chassis and suspension.
2. Inner Factory Box: Housed securely inside its original, custom-moulded Thorens high-density foam interior.
3. Outer Armor: Double-boxed using a strong, heavy-grade outer cardboard box, complete with an extra high-density foam buffer zone surrounding the inner box.
