Newbarn Farm
Location: Meath
Set on 33 acres near Ashbourne, Co. Meath, Newbarn Farm is a family run farm owned by William and Yvonne Ruiter. William and Yvonne have been growing vegetables for over 30 years and supplied produce to several major supermarkets across Ireland. In 2004, they made the decision to cut out the middle man and converted a portion of the farm shed into a farm shop and began selling their home grown produce and free range eggs direct to the customer. Over time the farm shop was expanded to include local produce from other Farmers in the area and a range of carefully selected range of fruit and vegetables from the Dublin Markets.
This year William and Yvonne decided to expand further and converted the shed which had previously housed the Newbarn Donkeys into a restaurant, suitably called "The Donkey Shed", which serves delicious locally sourced and in season food throughout the day.
William and Yvonne also built a new home for the Newbarn Donkeys in Newbarn Open Farm which is home to a selection of farm animals.
