Smullen Transport is a family run company with our Headquarters in Naas. Smullen Transport has a vacancy for a motivated professional to lead its warehouse function. This challenging role will require a self-motivated individual with extensive knowledge and experience of warehousing and distribution operations. The successful candidate will report to the Director and will be responsible to direct and control warehousing and distribution operations for Smullen Transport and for driving continuous improvement and standardisation. Job Description: Role holder has full responsibility for the management of the warehouses storage and external storage and the warehouse team. Responsible for ensuring the delivery of all warehouse activities; includes, coordination and receipt of goods in/out, transport. Responsible for ensuring systems and processes are in place, lean practices and systems are embedded, drive efficiencies and improvement, enable warehouse to adapt and flex to business needs as required. Person Profile: The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter. You are a dependable, performance driven, decision maker with the capability to analyse problems, swiftly develop solutions and then to implement appropriate actions. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the role, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proven ability to build, manage and maintain relationships at all levels. Using your management skills and experience, you will lead the warehouse team. You will create a high-performance culture based on the pillars of customer focus, quality and continuous improvement through the motivation and engagement of the team. You take responsibility for the performance of the team, consistently meeting and exceeding targets. Duties include: Manage, and continuously improve, the assigned metrics in compliance with companys vision/policies and best-known visual supply chain practices. Develop and recommend improvements in warehouse practices to promote safety, service efficiency and lower costs. Adhere to all warehousing, handling and shipping legislation requirements. Maintain correct standards of health and safety, hygiene and security. Ensure that productivity targets are achieved and that all warehouse processes are running smoothly. Supervise staff to ensure that all warehouse activities, and all machines/equipment are operated safely. Train new workers in warehouse operating procedures and standards. Ability to plan and optimise the layout for a warehouse if needed. Keep stock control systems up to date and ensure that inventories are accurate. Resolution of any goods-inward issues and manage stock control process together with Purchasing & Finance. Coordination with Logistics and Transport with respect to deliveries to internal/external customers. Perform other related duties as assigned. Reporting to Management trends and Analysis of the warehouse data such as stock accuracy, turnover etc The effective Management of the warehouse and all other associated activities. Exchange of information with related company. Build strong relationship with our logistic partners, to meet on time delivery performance, ensuring all transportation meets quality requirements Liaise with senior management to ensure regular feedback as given in relation to the warehouse operations Accurate record keeping to be maintained for all goods shipped or received. Take physical inventories and conduct cycle counts of stock items as defined. Compile statistics and reports regarding usage, stock levels, on time delivery rates etc. Manage the warehouse team, ensure clear roles and responsibilities and robust training plans for all roles. Ensure effective performance management of the team with a clear focus on deliverables. Hold 1:1s and regular team meetings and embed strong communication within the team across all shifts. Provide a Customer Service attitude when interacting with all internal and external customers while accomplishing work and achieving required quality standards. Responsible for safety, maintenance and cleanliness standards in the warehouse areas Continuously improve core processes e.g., material movements, labelling, FEFO process, Goods receipts Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives. Strong knowledge of warehousing Key Performance Indicators. Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases. Leadership skills and ability to manage staff. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Hours: 8am 5pm Monday to Friday
