Origin of Gotham and Gotham Girl
Newcomer superheroes Gotham and Gotham Girl fight Solomon Grundy on the Statue of Justice. Grundy throws the statue on the heroes, forcing Gotham Girl to grab it while Gotham attempts to capture the escaping Grundy. Suddenly, Batman arrives on the scene and takes Grundy down. Batman tells Gotham Grundy could have crushed a hobo during his escape if he hadn't intervened. While Gotham and Gotham Girl are good, they can do better. As Batman leaves, Gotham asks him to teach them.
Later at the Batcave, Bruce reviews Gotham and Gotham Girl's actions. The plane crash has reminded Bruce of his own mortality and he wonders what will happen to Gotham City once he dies and his legacy is left in the hands of his successors. For now, Bruce puts those doubts aside as he goes back to the manor to attend the charity party he arranged.
Meanwhile at the police station, Gordon gets a visit from Bob Castro, a bank worker who confesses to have released Grundy from his prison. Nervously, the man grabs a nearby knife and stabs himself in the neck, rambling that "the monster men are coming" and mentioning the word "strange".
Bruce is dancing with a woman in his party until he watches the Bat-signal shine in the sky. As he returns to the Batcave, he plans to bring Gotham and Gotham Girl to Gordon. Once they all converge in the police station, Gordon informs them about Castro. According to Gotham Girl, the people who fired the missile on the plane had also committed suicide. Batman ponders about Castro's "monster men" comment and leaves. Much to the amazement of Gotham and Gotham Girl, they cannot detect where he is, even with their ultra-vision. Gordon is not surprised, Batman does that all the time.
Meanwhile, Professor Hugo Strange conducts therapy on a man called Roger, using pictures to instill several different emotions on his patient. The session is observed by Sam Lane and Amanda Waller, the former commending the latter on having "saved Gotham".
