1920s Gibson "Snakehead" A-Style Mandolin (Blacktop) w/ Original Hard Case

Description

Gibson A1 1920s Lloyd Loar-era mandolin featuring the highly desirable narrow "Snakehead" peghead design.
Players grade

Ser# 81055 with the FON stamp (faint FON 85(5?)2) I haven't been able to find an exact year but it is between 1924-27 built in Kalamazoo, Michigan, this instrument delivers the woody, resonant projection and sweet tone response that make 1920s Gibsons so great.

Key Features & Details:
Headstock & Logo: Tapered "Snakehead" peghead profile featuring the original white script "The Gibson" logo and original open-gear tuners.

Label:
Original oval interior paper guarantee label remains fully intact inside the soundhole.

Pickup Modification:
Discreet internal under-bridge pickup installed, making it stage- and studio-ready for amplified performance.

Condition:
Shows genuine vintage character, including beautiful natural finish checking across the body. There is a stable, repaired top crack running along the grain beneath the bridge (clearly pictured) that does not affect structural integrity or playability.

Case:
Includes the original 1920s hardshell case featuring its classic purple plush interior lining and functional latches.

An exceptional balance of early-20th-century Gibson history, vintage tone, and modern player functionality.
