Antique Prussian medal

This is the Hohenzollern Commemorative Medal for Combatants of 1848–1849 (Hohenzollern Denkmünze für Kämpfer 1848–1849). This medal was established on August 23, 1851, by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia.

It was awarded to members of the Prussian military and officials who demonstrated loyalty during the various battles and conflicts that occurred in 1848 and 1849, including those related to the German Revolution of 1848/49 and the Schleswig-Holstein Uprising of 1849–1851.

The obverse (front) of the medal features the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern with a central shield displaying an eagle and the encircling text "VOM FELS ZUM MEER" (From the Rock to the Sea).

The reverse (back) has a border inscription that reads: "SEINEN BIS IN DEN TOD GETREUEN KRIEGERN" (To His Warriors Loyal Unto Death).


This medal is in good antique condition with some oxidisation from age.
