Michael Collins Limited Edition Centenary Medal

A privately commissioned military award style polished white metal. Bust facing right, obverse with legend 'General Michael Collins Centenary Medal, Béal na mBláth Co. Cork', numbered on rim 45 of only 50 issued, in attractive box of issue.

The Collins 22 Society adopted this medal and,on 14 August 2022, during the centenary ceremony in Glasnevin cemetery, each member of the Collins family present were given a medal Medal recipients: Nora Owen and her sister Joan O'Mahony, Mary Clare O'Malley and her sister Helena Blessing, all grand nieces; Aengus O'Malley, great grand nephew, son of Mary Clare O'Malley; Pól O Murchú, grand nephew, whose grandmother was Margaret Collins O'Driscoll; John Martin and Niamh Martin, son and daughter of Katherine (née Collins Powell); Helen Collins; An Tánaiste Leo Varadkar; Áine Broy, daughter of Eamon (Ned) Broy; Neil Collins Powell, great grand nephew; President Michael D. Higgins.
There are two different issues of this medal.
1. The Chromed version that is in general circulation.
2. The nickel silver coloured and numbered 1 of 50 - Limited edition of 50 medals of which this is No. 45. These were the examples given to the recipients listed above.
