The obverse side shows the heart logo used to brand the 2004 games. The reverse side shows the games' mascot, KINAS.

Kinas was created by Warner Brothers Entertainment Inc. for UEFA in 2002 and he is depicted as a soccer enthusiastic young boy wearing the Portuguese team colours with number 4 on his jersey. Kinas, the mascot's name is taken from 'Bandeira das Quinas', the Portuguese name for their national flag.

The UEFA European Championship (also known as the UEFA Euro) are a pan-European tournament of soccer games held every four years since the games commenced in 1960. The UEFA Euro 2004 games were held from the 12th June to the 4th July 2004, with 31 matches played in ten venues across Portugal. The 2004 games were full of shocks and surprises with Portugal and Greece reaching the finals, with Greece winning 1-0.

UEFA stands for Union of European Football Associations and are the administrative body for association football (soccer) in Europe. UEFA was established in 1954 and consists of 55 national association members (as at 2018).
