Untouched 1940 WW11 British MKII war helmet

Description

For sale/inventory is an exceptional, 100% factory-original World War II British Commonwealth Mk II Steel Helmet (commonly known as the "Brodie" or "Tommy" helmet). This specific piece is a highly desirable early-war configuration, stamped 1940—placing its production directly during the critical era of the Battle of France, the Dunkirk Evacuation, and the Blitz.
Key Technical Details & Markings:
• Shell Manufacturer: Officially heat-stamped into the inner steel rim near the chinstrap lug with the maker code "BMB" (Briggs Motor Bodies Ltd of Dagenham).
• Production Date: Clearly stamped 1940 alongside factory lot number 27.
• Liner Size: Standard British Medium Size 7 (approx. 22" / 56cm).
• Dual Size Verification: Features both the original factory white-inked "7" stamp on the rubber buffer cross and the matching raised, molded "7" cast directly into the vulcanized rubber arm.

Condition Report:
• Exterior: The steel shell retains its original early-war textured dark olive/khaki finish with minor service wear and an honest age patina. It comes complete with its period-correct, dark brown small-mesh string combat camouflage netting perfectly intact.

• Interior Liner: The black Rexine (oilskin) liner is structurally excellent and entirely unpouched. While the fabric has expected age-stiffness ("crispy"), it is completely stable, free of dry rot, tears, or cracking. The vulcanized rubber cross-buffer is supple and undamaged.

• Hardware: The central crown securing brass bolt and nut are untouched. The original woven "shoelace" type drawstring remains intact and tied. The sprung elastic/webbing chinstrap is present with strong tension.
An incredibly clean, textbook, untouched example of an early-WWII British infantry helmet that has been stored in a stable environment for the last 85+ years. Ideal for an advanced WWII display.
