Hi there, these are an extremely well looked after AKG 414s.
Personally I think the XLS captures the smooth body that vintage brass 414s were famous for without the harsh, brittle sizzle of modern bright condensers. They sit in a mix instantly, which is why this exact pair ended up on sessions with me for Paul McCartney, Mark Ronson, and Duran Duran. I’ve had them approximately since 2007.
