Each of the featured castles has its historical description and pictures to show its current status. There is a convenient map in the front showing the locations of the featured castles. The list is not a complete list of all Scottish castles. For example Edinburgh Castle and Dunnottar Castle are not included. A bigger book might have included floor plans and tour schedule if applicable. Nonetheless, the book is more portable than a coffee table book which might be awkward to carry around. It is definitely beautiful in what it does.
