The Secret of Bryn Estyn: The Making of a Modern Witch Hunt
Richard Webster
Orwell Press, 2005
First Edition – Hardback with Dust Jacket
ISBN: 9780951592243
Scarce first edition hardback of Richard Webster's substantial investigative work The Secret of Bryn Estyn: The Making of a Modern Witch Hunt.
Published by Orwell Press in 2005, this extensive 722-page study examines the allegations and investigations surrounding the Bryn Estyn children's home in North Wales and the wider North Wales child-abuse scandal. Webster critically examines how the allegations, investigations, media coverage and subsequent inquiries developed, presenting his controversial argument that the affair became a modern-day witch hunt.
The book was later longlisted for the 2010 Orwell Prize, adding further interest to this unusual and increasingly difficult-to-find title.
This is the desirable original 2005 Orwell Press first-edition hardback, rather than the later paperback edition.
Condition: Very Good
The book is in very good pre-owned condition and presents well overall. Original dust jacket is present and also in very good condition. Please examine the photographs carefully as these form part of the condition description.
