Chronicles the final tragic voyage of the "Lusitania," and how nearly two thousand people drowned when the large vessel sank after being attacked by a German U-boat.

An authoritative account of the sinking, on May 7th 1915 of the Cunard liner Lusitania. Nearing the end of her voyage from New York, the passenger liner was torpedoed and sunk by a German U boat, U-20, causing the deaths of 1198 passengers and crew. 128 American passengers were lost, and the outrage felt in the US was a contributing factor in the American decision to join the Allies two years later in 1917. Adolph August Hoehling (1914-2004), was a writer and military historian and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. It was his experience as a lieutenant commander of the Armed Guard on merchant vessels that provided inspiration for his books on naval history and subsequent memoirs. Google Books...
