Thirty years ago, Alice Leahy was one of the founders of Trust, which provides a health and social service for people sleeping rough. Based in The Liberties area of Dublin, Trust also offers a place to go during the day for a wash, a change of clothes, a chat, a cup of tea - the simple and most ordinary things in life.
With Trust in Place helps to celebrate the organisation's thirtieth anniversary. Alice asked people from all walks of life to celebrate with them and write a piece on the theme of 'The Outsider'. The result is a wonderful collection - including short stories, poetry, essays and personal recollections written from all perspectives, by people representing a large cross-section of Irish society. There are contributions from some of Ireland's best-known journalists, poets, playwrights, actors, singers and novelists as well as from supporters of Trust drawn from the judiciary, church, medical, political and voluntary worlds, and the wider community
- from the inside, the outside and no side at all.
