Royal Foundation: The original Capodimonte porcelain manufactory was established in 1743 atop the Capodimonte hill in Naples by King Charles VII (later Charles III of Spain) and Queen Maria Amalia of Saxony.
It was founded to rival famous German and European porcelain makers like Meisson
