Mid Century Richard Rohac Carrier Figurine Austria

This vintage Art Deco-style figurine is a brass and bronze sculpture of a carrier with a wooden barrel, designed by the renowned Austrian artist Richard Rohac during the 1950s. This piece is attributed to him as there are no signatures or marks.

Richard Rohac, an Austrian craftsman who worked in the "Wiener Werkstätte" tradition and was heavily influenced by the Hagenauer workshop. The figure is primarily made of blackened bronze and brass with a gilded patina, while the carrier's load is a miniature wooden barrel. The Wooden barrel seems to be a later addition by the previous owner. While decorative, similar Rohac pieces from this era were often designed as functional objects, such as spice holders or salt and pepper shaker holders.
