Important: Re-registration & Setup
Registering a pre-owned box to a new address can be tricky. Each box contains a unique barcode registered to a specific Eircode. Furthermore, postmen in different areas use different master keys. An Post does not guarantee that they will re-register a box to a new location (e.g., if you move this box to Meath, the local postman’s key may not fit).

I highly recommend this for someone who already has an An Post Delivery Box that is weather-worn or faded and wants a fresh replacement. With some basic DIY skills, you can perform a "housing swap" using these steps:

Swap the Lock: Gently remove the An Post Key Lock Mechanism from your old box and install it into this new one. (The separate Customer Lock comes with 4 spare keys, so you won't need to swap that).

Swap the Barcode: Carefully peel the registered barcode from your old box and apply it over the barcode in the new box.
