A fine Celtic socketed axe head cast from iron featuring a rectangular body with the sides extending outwards towards the convex cutting edge. To the other end, a socket for the attachment of a wooden shaft. Axe heads such as this one would have been used primarily for clearing woodland and for shaping timber, but would also have proved useful in battles. Original item and a cool piece of history postage available anywhere in ireland at no extra cost for asking price.
