For sale is a scarce badge set having both the V and the LEADER bars. The V may stand for Veteran and awarded for two or more years of consecutive membership of the club. The MFBEFS is the club's secret code for LEADER and a member was awarded one of these bars for recruiting five or more new members into the club. The round badge featuring Dumpty Doo duck would have been issued with the membership pack for every new member joining the club. The additional bars were issued as special awards only.
The COCOCUB CLUB was a children's club run by Cadbury-Bournville from 1936 until 1939, but was closed shorty after the outbreak of WW2 in September 1939. The club's activity was mainly through their weekly Saturday slot in the national and regional newspaper in which they published adventure stories, upcoming events relevant to the club, member's birthdays and letters, comic strips featuring the Cococub characters, competitions and puzzles using the club's secret code (the MFBEFS is in their secret code).
Prior to the opening of the club, in 1934 Cadbury-Bournville launched a massive promotional and advertising campaign that included the issuing of free promotional figures of Dumpty Doo and all his Cococub friends. One figure was included with each pack of Cadbury's cacao powder and cacao essence. Around 32 different diecast figures were issued and all made by Britains. The campaign was a massive success and spurned on the creation of the Cococub Club in 1936. Dumpty Doo and all the other Cococub characters were designed by illustrator Ernest Aris (1882-1963).
