One of Mrs Boland's Mice

These mice were made by the beloved Mrs. Boland from Co. Clare, who sadly passed away in January 2021.

For decades, she would take the train up from Clare to Dublin to visit art galleries, and drop by Cleo on Kildare Street for a chat, delivering fresh batches of her wonderfully detailed tweed mice and waistcoat-clad knitted rabbits.

Because they were sold as charming, accessible keepsakes alongside Cleo’s high-end "wearable art" handknits, they became global travelers—bought by locals and tourists alike as gifts for children, pets, or as personal keepsakes.

While Cleo still carries hand-rolled felt and fabric animals from local makers today, Mrs. Boland’s original tweed mice remain highly fond nostalgic tokens for anyone who shopped there during her era.
