Rare and Genuine Art Deco AGME Switzerland Gold Tone Mother of Pearl Compact with Adjustable Initials

A beautiful Art Deco powder compact by AGME of Switzerland, dating from the 1930s/40s, in a gold-tone metal case with a mother-of-pearl tile mosaic to the front, set in a checkerboard pattern.

The centre panel features a sliding initial dial set within an engraved gilt frame, allowing the owner to set their own initials via the slide controls on each side (currently showing sample letters, these move freely so you can set your own by pushing down on the controls).

The sides have classic Deco stepped/ribbed pillars in gold tone, and the reverse is finished in an engine-turned (guilloché) gold-tone pattern. Inside is a bevelled mirror and a powder well, with its original mesh sifter. Clearly stamped "AGME, Made in Switzerland" to the interior near the hinge.

Measures 9 cm x 6.5 cm x 1 cm.
Condition: light age-related marks/tarnishing as shown in photos (see close-ups), hinge and catch working well, mirror clear. Inside and sifter clean. Please view all photos as part of the condition description.
