Description
This is an Adams “English Scenic” rectangular serving platter / sandwich tray.
Brand on the back tells us quite a bit:
• ADAMS – historic English pottery maker founded in 1657
• Member of the Wedgwood Group – Adams became part of Wedgwood in the 1960s
• Pattern: English Scenic
• Material: Ironstone (a very durable type of ceramic)
• Made in England
The decoration is a transfer print pastoral scene — cows, trees, hills, and a little English countryside building. That style imitates the romantic rural scenes that were very popular in British ceramics in the mid-20th century.
The green transferware colour was one of the common variants of this pattern.
