Vintage Ceramic Artful Dodger Character Jug Dickens Series Staffordshire

Vintage ceramic character Toby jug depicting the Artful Dodger from Charles Dickens' classic novel, Oliver Twist.

This expressive, detailed piece was produced in Staffordshire, England by Artone as part of their Dickens Series Ware in the 1970s/1980s.

The figurine captures the iconic pickpocket's cocky, mischievous expression, dressed in a high-collared blue coat, bright yellow neckerchief, and his oversized top hat. A unique feature of this model is the clever handle sculpted in the form of a white and red polka-dot scarf wrapped around a stolen pocket watch.

The base features authentic impressed manufacturer marks: "ARTONE" on one side of the foot rim and "ENGLAND" on the other. It also retains the original handwritten painter's initial mark from the studio decorator.

Material: Hand-painted glazed earthenware pottery
Dimensions: Approximately 13 cm tall
Origin: Made in Staffordshire, England by Artone
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The glazed finish remains highly glossy and vibrant. The foot rim shows standard unglazed pottery shelf-wear consistent with age, but there are no chips, cracks, or restorations.

A wonderful addition for collectors of traditional British pottery, Dickens character collectibles, or fans of vintage curiosities.
