An elegant example of the FASE Presidente (President) S/C, presented in the distinctive Carey / Raíz (faux tortoiseshell) finish.

Manufactured in Spain by FASE, the renowned Madrid-based lighting company, the Presidente is a celebrated example of Spanish mid-century modern design.

Its sculptural silhouette combines a beautifully curved wooden support, gold-toned metal fittings and a broad circular shade. The rich, marbled Carey finish extends across both the shade and the circular base, creating a striking combination of colour, texture and materials.

Originally designed in the 1960s, the Presidente became one of FASE's most recognisable lamps, combining distinctive styling with functional versatility.

The FASE Presidente has become a familiar presence in film and television, notably appearing on Don Draper's desk in the acclaimed series Mad Men. The design has also featured in productions including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) and Star Trek: Enterprise (2002).

CONDITION

Very good vintage condition.

The Carey finish is exceptionally well preserved, with no corrosion. The wooden support has one small mark, and the underside of the base shows minor surface scratches consistent with age.

The lamp is fully functional. Both the rotating base and the shade's ball-joint adjustment mechanism operate correctly.

The electrical cable is in good condition; its originality has not been established.

PROVENANCE & DESIGN HISTORY

The Presidente was originally developed by Luis Pérez de la Oliva and Pedro Martín García, with its design patented in Spain in 1963.

The model appears in original FASE catalogues from the 1970s and early 1980s. The exact manufacturing year of this particular example has not been established.

The lamp retains its distinctive FASE manufacturer's marking, reading "FASE – Modelos Patentados – Madrid, España", underneath the base.
