For sale is an exceptional, heavy-duty vintage Irish Shillelagh with great age (at least 50 years old). Hand-harvested and crafted from a mature, slow-grown piece of Irish Blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), this stick is vastly thicker and sturdier than modern commercial canes.

Standout Features:

Exceptional Old-Growth Thickness: A robust, substantial gauge throughout, tapering down to a dense 5/8-inch (16 mm) at the raw terminal tip.

Master-Class Ergonomic Grip: The heavy root-ball handle was masterfully carved to utilize the wood's natural branch spurs. It creates a custom, highly contoured "lock-in" grip that fits perfectly and comfortably into the palm.

Matured 50-Year Patina: Features a beautiful, rich amber-chestnut finish with deep character lines and classic gnarled "knuckles" along the shaft. Darker mottling on the head shows evidence of traditional open-fire or chimney curing.

Dimensions & Condition:

Length: 32.5 inches (approx. 82.5 cm). Perfectly balanced, nimble, and straight.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The crown features a clean, natural hairline weather-check along the grain—a textbook sign of decades-old seasoned root-wood that adds superb antique character without compromising the structural integrity of the staff.

A rare find for the serious collector of Irish folk art, militaria, or anyone looking for an incredibly solid, historic country walking companion.
