Vintage Leichner Make up Pot

Description

Circa 1920's Green Eye Shadow pot size 5 x 2.5 cm
Brass lid on cut glass base

Leichner cosmetics 1873 - 1945

Ludwig Leichner, a German opera singer and chemist, developed the first commercially available theatrical greasepaint in 1873, revolutionizing stage makeup by creating a creamy, smooth-applying formula that provided better coverage under harsh stage lighting compared to earlier, often unnatural and dangerous methods

L. Leichner (England) Ltd., was established in 1922.

By the 1920s, Leichner was selling a complete range of theatrical make-up including stick, cream and liquid greasepaints, loose and compact powders, liquid powders, face creams, lip and eyebrow pencils. And following on, Allcromo makeup, adapted for film.

For the eyes there was Leichner Eyeshadow (Shades: Cinema Brown (light and Dark), Gray (Light and Dark), Gold Green, Gold Brown, Gold and Silver) and Leichner Cinema Cosmetic range
