Vintage Mid-Century Union-Castle Line Ocean Liner Steamer Trunk / Suitcase (c. 1950s/60s)

Fantastic original vintage ocean liner steamer trunk / large wooden-slatted suitcase dating from the 1950s to early 1960s.

Packed with authentic character, original provenance, and fantastic maritime travel history.

Details & Features:

Maritime Provenance: Features original period Union-Castle Line ocean liner baggage stickers ("WANTED ON THE VOYAGE" & "ENGLAND") as well as period hand-written passenger label and stencil lettering (⁠T.H. MANUEL⁠).

Construction: Vulcanized fibre/canvas exterior over a solid wooden frame with bentwood protective slats, heavy brass hardware/clasps, leather handle, and brass-plated corner guards.

Interior: Very clean original fabric lining with inside passenger address label (South Wales provenance) and original loose Union-Castle luggage tag.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition with natural age patina, wear, and scuffs consistent with historical sea travel. Structure and latches are solid.

Perfect as a character coffee table, end-of-bed storage trunk, shop display, window staging, or film/theatre prop.
