Vintage Norah Wellings Turko Doll from 1930's

Here I have a light brown velveteen, English Made By/Norah Wellings, "Turko", Model 955 , national costume doll.
From Norah Wellings Novelty Range.
Dating from 1930's

Sometimes described as a character doll as shown and described In "Norah Wellings Cloth Dolls and Soft Toys"- written by Gillian Trotter.

This doll measures, 23 cms or 8.5 inches tall, and is listed as model #955 (part of Norah Wellings "Novelty" line)
Turko has a deeply molded, soft brown, velveteen face, swivel head, with high cheek bones, molded brows and lovely painted features including side-glancing eyes with high lights, long eyelashes, nicely painted smiling red lips with teeth and individually stitched fingers.
He wears orange velveteen gathered trousers with a black velveteen shirt with bead buttons and collar, a matching black felt fez (hat) with gold tassel, gold felt shoes and original red silk sash.
