Hi, does it have any marking from the maker? It is difficult to see due to the corrosion.

@dpc16 Hi no makers visible looks like it was sanded at some point probably to remove glue and rubber as this would of originally had a rubber sleeve type scale only identified mark is on the sheath. That puts it as a Rogers sheffield hopefully this helps

Could you show the reference to the maker you mentioned? I only see "made in sheffield" in the sheath and there were many different makers there, often small workshops, both of knives and sheaths for them. I've previously read Rodgers marked their knives, not their sheaths.

This is the rationale and reasoning pointing to Roger Williams . I also belive the commando fighting knifes sheath were a mix match some stamped and some not this was to keep up with the demand of the war and some parts were contrated out to smaller knife makers of the time to help with the demand but the majority of sheath were in fact stamped

In 1940-60,, the primary manufacturers producing throwing knives in Sheffield, England, were William Rodgers and J. Nowill & Sons

William Rodgers: Highly famous for mid-century throwing knives, particularly their "Truflite" throwing knife line, which frequently featured distinct leather handles or full-tang steel configurations.

J. Nowill & Sons: Produced specialized throwing models like the "Plummet Major" and the "Plummet" throwing knives. These were often built with heavy, double-edged spear-tip blades, full tang construction, and hardwood scales like ebony and were much bigger

Blade Profile: The distinct unsharpened, dagger-style spear tip blade transitions cleanly into a narrow, integrated flat handle.Full-Tang Metal Construction: True to the 1950s "Truflite" minimalist pattern, the entire knife is stamped out of a single flat piece of carbon steel, with no handle scales, wraps, or guards.Period Sheath: The dark leather sheath features characteristic steel rivets reinforcing the lower edge seams and a cross-strap keeper snap at the top to secure the flat handle, identifying it as a Truflite .

Thanks. Unfortunately a truflite can't be identified from the sheath, as similar were used by various different makers including for copies (hence generic labelling). They were maker marked and trueflites online all look different.

If it also has no markings, I don't think it is a Rodgers. That was a leading brand so I believe they marked the metal unless producing commando designs.

Eur 20?

@dpc16 no thanks I got this form a collect along with 4 other william rodgers knifes all stamped and a few slogan pieces agen all stamped i have no reason to believe this is a copy as he is a genuine person so I have to say no to €20 thanks anyway

My reasoning is the knife is unmarked although William Rodgers marked both sides of theirs with a stamp when the blanks were made.

It doesn't have a proper handle, is corroded and doesn't look finished. You might find the balance is wrong for the purpose you were told it is for if indeed it is made from a flat piece of metal - weight will likely be too far bac lk causing it to bounce off things. Truflites have a narrow handle and larger shaped front to shift the balance forward.

The sheath has a generic made in england stamp, has had writing roughly scratched on it by a previous owner and has been partially repaired without removing the rivets.
