Description
On offer is a German military trench/combat knife (historically known as a Grabendolch or Kampfmesser), designed as a close-quarters combat weapon and utility tool.
World War I (1914–1918) through World War II (1939–1945). The 9-groove wooden handle and simple metal scabbard are classic characteristics of mass-produced German field blades from this 30-year window.
The needle-like spear-point blade was optimized for piercing heavy wool overcoats and uniforms in tight spaces, like trenches or bunkers.Being completely "sterile" (no maker marks) means it was likely a late-war emergency production piece or made by a small wartime subcontractor supplying the military under a generic government order.
