Yes, it works with the PS5, including the Digital edition. A few things worth knowing so it meets your expectations:

It connects via USB 3.0/3.1, which is exactly what the PS5 needs for external storage, and at 500GB it's above Sony's 250GB minimum.
You can play PS4 games directly from it, and store PS5 games on it so you don't have to re-download them later.
One limitation set by Sony (not the drive itself): PS5 games can't be played directly from a USB drive — they have to be copied back to the console's internal SSD to run. This applies to every external USB HDD/SSD, not just this one. To play PS5 games directly from extra storage, you'd need an internal M.2 NVMe SSD.
