Large Antique Mahogany Bookcase/Display Cabinet

Beautiful and substantial antique mahogany breakfront library bookcase / display cabinet, with lovely figured mahogany grain, decorative astragal glazing and original-style brass fittings.

A very impressive statement piece with plenty of both display and storage space. The upper section has glazed doors with shelving behind, while the lower section has a combination of drawers and panelled cupboard storage.

One of the glazed doors is currently detached but is present and included with the cabinet (see photos). It appears suitable for refitting/restoration. This is an antique piece and naturally has marks, wear and imperfections consistent with its age, all of which contribute to its character and patina.

Features include:

Mahogany construction / veneers with attractive figured grain
Decorative astragal glazed doors
Multiple display shelves
Generous drawer and cupboard storage
Decorative brass handles and escutcheons
Moulded cornice and plinth base
Detached glazed door included
Large, impressive proportions

Would make a fantastic library bookcase, dining-room display cabinet, drinks/glassware cabinet or statement storage piece in a period property.

I have not had the cabinet professionally dated, so it is being sold simply as an antique / Georgian-style mahogany bookcase rather than attributed to a particular period.

Condition: Good antique condition overall with age-related wear, marks and some restoration/attention required. One upper glazed door is detached but included. Please study the photographs as they form part of the description.

It comes in two pieces - BASE Part is 241cm length/100cm height/43cm side depth with centre part coming out to 57cm (all approx)

TOP Part is 248.5cm length/127.5cm height/47.5 depth at top of the unit with cabinet sides 40-42cm depth
