Medieval Brussels - Tapestry - 117 x 208 cm

The original tapestry is displayed at the Louvre in Paris.

This Museum Collection wall tapestry represents the month of March. It is part of a series of 12 tapestries woven for Emperor Maximilian II. The scene displays Brussels and the Zonien Forest. Also displayed is the church of Saint Goedele which is now Saint Michael's Cathedral. The red horseman is Emperor Charles V (1500-1558). On the background to the left is the imperial palace, set on fire in 1731 and the town hall.

This tapestry is fully lined & finished with tapestry rod sleeve for easy wall-hanging.

Condition: Excellent - superb reproduction of the original
One 10 mm stitch repair to rear bottom corner - used to put additional pole in for hanging.
