Pair of Vintage Hand-Painted Portuguese Ceramic Wall Plates - Signed 1994

Description

Pair of Vintage Hand-Painted Portuguese Folk Art Ceramic Wall Plates (1994)

A stunning matching pair of authentic Portuguese regional folk art terracotta plates. These beautiful companion pieces feature a rural country scene—one
showing a countryman looking out over a rocky landscape with his donkey, and the second showing a woman in traditional regional dress leading the laden donkey.

Crafted using the traditional sgraffito technique, where detailed outlines are beautifully etched directly through the colorful glazes into the rich redware clay below.

Artist: Hand-signed by the artist "Malato"
