Light & Placement
Bright, Indirect Light: Place near a window but not in direct sun, which can scorch plants. East-facing windows are often ideal.
Avoid Low Light: Insufficient light slows growth and encourages mold.
Watering & Humidity
Self-Sustaining Cycle: A closed terrarium recycles water through evaporation and condensation.
Check Condensation: Light dew is good; heavy, constant fog means too much water.
Airing Out: If it's too steamy, remove the lid for 10-15 minutes to let it dry slightly.
Water Sparingly: Only add a little distilled water with a spray bottle when the soil looks dry and there's no dew.
Maintenance & Pruning
Prune: Trim dead leaves or overgrown plants with tweezers or small scissors to keep it tidy and healthy.
Clean Glass: Wipe the inside of the jar to keep it clear.
No Fertilizer: Terrariums generally don't need fertilizer.
Leave "Extras": Tiny bugs or new plant sprouts can be left in if they aren't harming the main plants; they add to the ecosystem.
What to Watch For
Mold/Fungus: Remove affected parts and air out the jar.
Drying Out: Moss losing color or no dew on the glass indicates it's too dry.
