@hondaonthebrain depends on how hot you put it. Take a few hours at least for the first heat up. There is an inflatable lid which then helps keep the heat in. We would turn it on in the morning (let the filter also do its job), and by the afternoon it would be hot enough. There is some timer also on it if I remember correctly and you can keep it plugged in and it will turn on and off automatically (but we did it manually as not daily used it).
