A Superb Hamilton GS 75003-3 Tropicalized Military General Service 34mm Watch with Blemish-Free Dial and Beautiful Vanilla Lume, c.1960s.
Condition:
This watch has been professionally serviced by expert watchmakers at 'Dawson Jewellers, Damson Street, Dublin 2, Ireland' - receipt is available and shows a cost of €650, this included a replacement 'Plexi-Glass/Crystal' to the exact type, size, etc as the original (that had been scratched & cracked), and a new 'Crown & Stem' - the watch had been missing the original crown & had been left in a box and unopened for over forty years!
As per the watchmaker, the dial is in fantastic condition, rich black, blemish-free and boasting a vanilla-coloured lume across the hour plots and original sword hands, which have aged beautifully. The numerals and outer minute track are sharp as is the Hamilton signature.
The dial is printed with “G.S.” at 6 o'clock denoting that the watch was made for the British Military 'General Service' division and would have been issued to a non-military member of the British armed forces. The dial is completed with a brilliant white central seconds hand and encapsulated underneath shatterproof Plexiglas.
The case is in superb condition with very few signs of light wear. The case back is engraved with information about the watch. To the centre is engraved the Hamilton “H” with Tropicalized and 75003-3 (the model number) below. Above the “H” is engraved 150oE which indicates the magnetic shield exceeds 150 Oersted (1oE = 79.577 amperes per meter). “Shockproof, Anti-Magnetic, Waterproof” and "Temperature Compensated” are engraved around the outer edge.
The watch is now running beautifully and keeping time thanks to the expertise of the Watchmaker who undertook all repairs, replacements, and service.
I had also added a new 'ZULUDRIVER - 1973 British Military Watch Strap: Oxford - Chestnut in 18mm. Please be aware this is an XL Strap (Wrist Size 200-270mm).
