At Retro Cameras Ireland, we digitise old video tapes, cine film, photographs and negatives, including unusual and damaged formats that many other companies won't accept.

Based in Athy, Co. Kildare. We accept items from anywhere in Ireland by post, and local drop-off can also be arranged.

Your recordings can be transferred to digital files, USB memory stick or DVD, so you can watch them again and share them with family.

8MM & SUPER 8 CINE FILM

Have old film reels from the 1950s, 60s, 70s or 80s?

We scan Regular 8mm and Super 8 cine film frame by frame, converting your old home movies into digital video files.

Optional background music can also be added to your finished videos.

PHOTO, SLIDE & NEGATIVE SCANNING

We can digitise:

Old printed photographs, including large collections
35mm slides
Photographic negatives of various sizes
Medium and large-format film
Glass plate negatives
Old or faded photographs, with restoration available where possible

RARE & UNUSUAL FILM – FOUND SOMETHING IN AN OLD CAMERA?

This is something we particularly enjoy working with!

Have you found an old camera with film still inside? Perhaps a roll that's been sitting in a drawer for 40 or 50 years, or a strange-looking film cartridge you don't recognise?

Don't throw it away!

We also develop and scan rare, unusual and obsolete photographic film formats, including Kodak Disc film, 110 and 126 film, and other old or unknown films.

These are formats that many ordinary photo labs no longer process, but we are happy to take on unusual jobs.

If you've found something like this, send us a photo or get in touch. We'll identify what you have and see what can be recovered.

Old film can deteriorate over time, so results cannot always be guaranteed, but you might be surprised by what's still there.

MOULDY, DAMAGED OR STUCK TAPES AND FILM

Not everything arrives in perfect condition.

We also accept mouldy video tapes, damaged film reels, stuck tapes and other media that may need specialist attention before digitisation.

Some items require careful cleaning, repair or hours of manual work.

We'll inspect your items first and discuss any additional recovery costs before proceeding. There's no obligation to go ahead with additional work.

Not everything can be saved, but we'll do our best to recover whatever is possible.

Send your items by post or arrange a local handover in Athy.
We inspect and digitise your tapes, films or photographs.
Receive your digital files by secure download or USB. DVD is also available for video transfers.
Your original items are returned to you.

All digitisation work is carried out locally in Athy, Co. Kildare.
