Hi is there a place for the speedo drive at the back end of the box

@kev50: Not that I can see, I don't think the 260 box had a mechanical speedo drive, certainly the later models anyway.

@kev50: Could it be under a blanking plate on the rear right of the box? There's a plate blanking off something, visible in picture two immediately to the right of the prop shaft on the top side of the case.

I don't know to be honest I bought a 316 e21 but it has a 5 speed box from an e30 in it like the 1 you have and there is nowhere to connect the speedo cable. I've been told there are some early e30s with 5 speed gearbox had the speedo drive at the back but had a plate over it. So I'm not sure

@kev50 gearbox housing may be a different length, the 260 box is longer than the stock E21 5 speed 245. Maybe the box you have is the same length as the stock box or maybe the prop shaft has been shortened. Just something to be wary of. E30’s mostly used diff driven speedo cables.
