George Weissbort was a Belgian born British artist(April 11th 1928- oth July 2013)..He dedicated most of his long work life to recreating old masters styles via the sustained exploration of figurative representation..He was also very interested in the perception of the natural world and how he could best portray this to the eye of the gazer..He was very dedicated in getting his story across to the viewers via an intense examination of shapes, patterns, compositional relationships..tonal sequences and the clever use of lines and edges..I have been very lucky to find three of pieces..all oil on canvas and applied to board..
1. A 20X16 inch self portrait of which he did quite a few..he used letters and numbers to catalogue his pieces..which are more often unsigned..this is marked SP 170.
2. A 16x12 inch nude..with extensive use of the lines and edges that I mentioned above..Very similar pieces of his can be found online..This is on a Daler canvas board..no visible numbers.
3.A 20x16 inch oil on canvas and applied to board..This is a piece of amazing quality and very much demonstrates his love of painting in the style of the old masters..I believe that there is a faint signature of his on the lower left..(as per photos)
This artist has sold at Christies,Bonhams and all of the major action houses..often for many thousands..I will offer these on here only for a short period of time..at which point I will frame and hang them for myself..or send them to a reputable art auction house..where they will breeze past my very sensible asking price. Thanks for looking please check out my other ads.
