A stunning Clara Inness (b.1874 - d.1932) early 20th century oil on canvas painting featuring a woodland glen landscape scene. Signed C. Inness bottom right and housed in a gilt frame.

Artist Clara Inness was a student at Mark Hopkins Art Institute and was known for her meticulously executed landscapes. Clara Inness' oil paintings depict the countryside of California. Her attention to the details of the trees, grasses, and banks of rivers and lakes in her artwork create picturesque views of rural areas during the late 1800s and early 1900s. She used neutral tones, bright blues, and plays of shadow and light to create realistic, natural landscapes. Artist Clara Inness liked to work on canvas, and while oil was her preferred medium, she also used acrylics.
