Families, possessions and their histories are central features in her work. Enamel and domestic paint are her preferred mediums when creating blithe, cartoon-like characters and spaces, fool’s paradises, seemingly devoid of intended political or social meaning, yet there is a Hogarthian quality to the work, a suggestion that behind the farcical lies satire and allegory. She also integrates digital tools in her work including photography, designing irregular shaped surfaces and in constructing imagined dioramas.

Mary Ronayne lives in Co. Kildare and lectures in Computer Illustration in Dublin. She studied Fine Art in TU Dublin, History of Art in Cardiff and an MA Art in the Contemporary World in NCAD, Dublin (2013). Recent exhibitions include: Solo show, Linenhall Gallery, Castlebar, Co.
