A beautiful, authentic vintage piece of Northern Irish coastal history for sale. This is an original still-life oil painting by local artist May (Mae) McCartney, created circa 1980.
The artwork features a classic arrangement of pink wild roses and red blossoms in a golden vase, painted using a gorgeous, heavy impasto technique that gives the flower petals a raised, three-dimensional texture.
Provenance / Backstory:
Bought directly from the artist's private Groomsport Studio in County Down around 1980. The back of the canvas contains the original handwritten receipt details: "Bought of MAE McCartney 1980 GROOMSPORT STUDIO for £42”. Her floral still lifes regularly pass through regional auction houses in Bangor, proving its local authenticity.
Condition Details:
Painting: Excellent vintage condition. The thick oil paint is sturdy and holds its original, beautiful color vibrancy perfectly.
Frame: Damaged / Needs Attention. The heavy, ornate gold frame has suffered plaster damage. Large chunks of the molded gesso scrollwork have broken off on the edges, leaving the white underlying plaster exposed (see photos). There are also hair-line cracks throughout the remaining mold.

Location: Collection from Dublin or Belfast.
Price: €65 (Open to reasonable offers)
