Basic care:
Grow in a pot outside in a bright position with plenty of natural light. Aeoniums are cool weather-growing succulents, so they appreciate more regular watering during autumn, and spring when conditions are ideal for active growth. Allow the compost to dry partially between waterings and never leave the plant sitting in water.
Use a very free-draining compost containing approximately 50% grit. A pot with good drainage is essential. During hot summer weather, the plant may naturally become more dormant, so reduce watering.
For strong growth, provide good light, regular watering when actively growing and occasional feeding during the growing season.
Protect from frost and prolonged temperatures below approximately 5°C. In Ireland, it is best grown in a pot so it can be moved under cover (such as into a conservatory) during cold or very wet periods.
