Head & Accessory System
• Quick-Change Accessory Lever: The prominent silver metal handle at the very top. Squeezing this lever releases the internal clamping mechanism, allowing you to quickly swap out blades, scrapers, or sanding pads without needing an Allen key or wrench.
• Accessory Clamp & LED Light: Located right under the front housing (partially obscured). It holds the blade securely and houses an integrated LED work light that illuminates the immediate work piece when the trigger is pressed.
Main Body & Controls
• XR Brushless Motor Housing: The upper black and yellow section emblazoned with the "XR" badge. It contains an efficient brushless motor that runs cooler and delivers significantly more runtime than older brushed models.
• Dual-Grip Variable Speed Trigger: The long black paddle switch running down the inner spine of the handle. This allows you to control the speed (0–20,000 oscillations per minute) depending on how hard you squeeze it, and can be gripped comfortably from multiple hand positions.
• Trigger Lock-On / Lock-Off Button: The small circular button located near the main trigger. It can be pushed to lock the trigger in the "off" position for safe storage, or pressed while running to lock the speed on during extended cutting or sanding tasks.
Base & Battery Interface
• Slide-On Battery Guide Rails: The yellow molded base at the bottom. This is where standard DeWalt 18V XR (or 20V MAX in North America) Lithium-ion slide batteries click into place.
• Electrical Contact Terminals: Hidden inside the base channel to transfer power smoothly from the battery pack to the controller.
