With not hoses I can't test it on site, also have to purchase all the filters etc that usually come with the pump when bought new

You could have tried negotiating, or even trying to be polite! You don't even have hoses, so nobody can even try it to see if it actually works... instead you just become ignorant towards a genuine person who is interested in taking the chance
